Coaching

Hello!

My name is Christopher, and I’m the founder of Sophraxia.

I come to this work through years of leadership, service, and study – and through my own ongoing practice of slowing down, paying attention, and meeting life directly. I don’t believe in fixing people or pushing them toward becoming something they’re not. I believe in helping people slow down, see clearly, and meet their lives with calm, composed confidence.

For me, coaching is a practice of intention, attention, and attitude – done together, honestly and carefully.

Why I Love Coaching

I love coaching because helping people has always been the most meaningful part of my life. I’m drawn to the moments where someone begins to see themselves more clearly – sometimes for the first time – and realizes they’re capable of more than they thought.

Coaching gives people the space to learn themselves, to reconnect with who they are at this stage of their life, and to move toward things they have only imagined before.

How Coaching Helps

One of the things I hear most from my clients is that they feel more in control of their thoughts and emotions. They’re able to think clearly through difficult situations that would have overwhelmed them before.

Coaching supports more deliberate decision-making about what to stop doing, what to begin, and what actually matters now. Over time, people become more grounded in what they think, what they feel, what they need, and where they’re headed – and more willing to stand behind those choices.

How I Define Coaching

To me, coaching isn’t about giving answers or telling someone what to do. It’s about having a guide – someone who can walk with you, ask the right questions, and help you see what’s already there.

The real work is discovery. My role isn’t to solve your life, but to help you learn how to meet it more clearly and honestly.

The Sophraxia Process

Sophraxia centers on self-discovery, self-reflection, and learning how to relate to experience as it unfolds.

We slow things down.

We look closely.

We create space between reaction and response.

From there, insight becomes possible – and so does meaningful change.

If this resonates, and you feel ready to do this kind of work, I’d be glad to talk with you.

A Note On Experience:

My work is shaped by both formal study and lived experience.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, with training in health coaching and behavioral change strategies, and I’ve spent years studying and practicing mindfulness and philosophy as tools for living and leading well.

I’m also a published writer, with work appearing in Crackyl Magazine, including:

  • Can You Be a Stoic? (Summer 2024)
  • The Engine Mind (Summer 2025)
  • Earn Your Ease (Fall 2025)

In 2024, I served as the Closing Speaker at the Florida Fire Conference, presenting Mindful Communication: The Leadership Skill No One’s Talking About.

Before this work, I spent over 20 years in the fire service, most recently as the Battalion Chief of Health and Safety, where I led and supported people in high-stakes, high-pressure environments.

This background informs how I coach: grounded, practical, and focused on helping you meet real moments with clarity and steadiness. I work with individuals and organizations who value clarity, presence, and responsible leadership.
